Egyptian authorities arrested Monday five Sudanese nationals who tried to smuggle themselves into Israel, security sources said, dpa reported.
The group was spotted and arrested by a police patrol near Egypt's Sinai peninsula border with Israel.
Large numbers of migrants attempt to cross the porous border between Israel and the Sinai each year. Egypt has been criticized in the past by human rights organisations for shooting migrants to stop from reaching Israel.
