Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh Monday underlined the importance of UN's role in pushing efforts forward to attain Middle East peace and to resolve regional conflicts.

At a meeting with UN Middle East envoy Robert Serry on Monday, the Jordanian minister stressed that resolving the Palestinian- Israeli conflict is in the interest of the regional countries,  Xinhua reported according to the Jordanian state-run Petra news agency.

Judeh briefed the UN envoy on Jordan's efforts to attain Middle East peace and stability on the basis of the two-state solution and the 2002 Arab peace initiative to ensure the creation of a viable and independent Palestinian state that lives side by side with Israel in peace and security.

The minister said Israel's unilateral measures and settlement activities, especially in East Jerusalem are invalid and will undermine efforts to resume the peace talks.

In the meantime, Serry stressed UN's support to efforts to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two- state formula within a regional context for peace.

The UN official also underlined the need for intensified international efforts to realize peace and stability in the region.
