Three Iraqi civilians have been killed and eight people, including security forces, wounded in Iraq's Nineveh and Diyala provinces, Press TV reported.
In the eastern province of Diyala, a leading member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) was killed on Saturday in a bombing in the city of Khanaqin, the Aswat al-Iraq news agency reported.
In the incident, an explosive device placed in a vehicle belonging to PUK official Nawzad Rahim Khardal detonated in Sa'adiya village, north of the provincial capital Baqouba.
Khardal was killed in the blast, which also left one of his bodyguards seriously wounded.
In the northern province of Nineveh, a civilian man was killed and another injured when an improvised explosive device went off in the al-Thawra neighborhood in the west of the provincial capital Mosul.
Later in the day, seven persons, including two policemen, sustained injuries in a blast caused by a home-made bomb that targeted a federal police patrol in al-Thawra on Saturday.
In another incident, gunmen in a vehicle opened fire on a civilian in the al-A'amil neighborhood in western Mosul, killing him on the spot.
Bombings and other forms of violence escalated in Iraq soon after the US-led invasion of the country in 2003.
