Saudi doctor kidnapped in restive northern Yemen province
A Saudi doctor has been kidnapped by tribesmen in Yemen's volatile northern province of Saada north Yemen, police sources said on Monday.
The sources told the German Press Agency dpa the tribesmen were demanding that authorities release a jailed relative in exchange for Dhafir al-Shahrani.
Al-Shahrani, who heads the Saudi-run Al-Salam Hospital in the provincial capital, was snatched by gunmen from the al-Ubada clan late Sunday.
Police officials said negotiations with the kidnappers was launched by tribal chiefs to free the abducted doctor.
