Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan on Saturday expressed concern over the situation in Egypt.
"No one can at present ignore the ongoing unrest in Egypt," Kan said in Davos, Switzerland, where he was attending the World Economic Forum annual meeting.
"I hope the Egyptian government begins a dialogue with the people," he said.
The Japanese premier noted Egypt's significance for the region. The country should urgently institute reforms to build stability, Kan said. These reforms would need the support of Egyptian people, he added. dpa hpd bve dms Author: Heinz P Dietrich
