Protests supporting Egyptian President Hosny Mubarak have been growing in size Wednesday, with estimates saying thousands of demonstrators were gathered in different locations in Cairo, DPA reported.
State television had announced the planned protests, after Mubarak said the previous evening he would step down in September.
There were unconfirmed reports on Arabic broadcaster al-Jazeera that employees of state-owned companies were directed to attend some of the pro-government rallies.
