UN Security Council resolution on Libya was adopted too hastily, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennadi Gatilov said on Wednesday, speaking before the State Duma, RIA Novosti reported.

"The additional time would enable us to more thoroughly and attentively examine all the provisions of the Security Council resolution and more closely determine the position of the UN Security Council. But, unfortunately, this haste and insistence, with which the authors tried to make it faster, do not let us do it," he said.

"Moreover, I can say we made a brief draft resolution calling for an immediate cessation of the use of force and the transfer of the whole situation to a diplomatic track. But, unfortunately, it was not accepted by our western partners and they forced the adoption of the draft resolution," said Russian deputy foreign minister.
