Jordan concerned over protests in Syria, urges dialogue

The Jordanian government on Monday expressed deep concern over the unrest in neighbouring Syria, and urged "dialogue" to bring an end to the unrest, dpa reported.

"What is taking place in Syria is disturbing, regrettable and painful," Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh said in an interview with the official Petra news agency.

He urged the regime of President Bashar al-Assad to engage in "dialogue and implement reforms to enable Syria to come out of this impasse".

However, Judeh said Jordan would "not interfere in Syria's domestic affairs" and considered Syria's unity, security and stability a "red line".
