Thirty-six people were killed during yesterday's mass demonstrations in cities of Syria, Al Jazeera reported.

Syrian human rights activists said the country's security forces opened fire on demonstrators in the cities of Homs, the Duma and Idlib.

Mass protests in Syria began in mid March in Dera'a, in the country's south, then spreading to other regions. According to the UN, there are 3,600 people dead.

The opposition is demanding the resignation of Syria's President Asad and for political reforms. The regime's opponents formed a Transitional National Council as an oppositional body of power.
