The Egyptian government said on Sunday that parliamentary elections will be held on time, as clashes between protesters and security forces in central Cairo continued for the second day, DPA reported.
The cabinet said that this "deliberately fueled tension aims at delaying or cancelling the elections to prevent the rebuilding of state institutions."
Parliamentary elections are set to take place between November 28 and January 10.
