UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon voiced deep concern on Monday over clashes between protesters and police in Cairo, which has resulted in at least 33 people killed, dpa reported.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon voiced deep concern on Monday over clashes between protesters and police in Cairo, which has resulted in at least 33 people killed, dpa reported.

Ban called for the transitional authorities to "guarantee the protection of human rights and civil liberties for all Egyptians, including the right to peaceful protest."

He called for restraint and calm by all parties to allow the democratic process to evolve in Egypt.
