Syrian security forces on Tuesday shelled several residential areas in the central province of Homs, killing at least eight people, activists said, dpa reported,
"Shells were falling everywhere they even hit a mosque in the area of Baba Amr, eight people were killed and five others were wounded," Omar Homsi, an activist in the province told dpa by phone.
Activists posted photographs on the internet showing the aftermath of the shelling.
