French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe will attend the meeting of "Friends of Syria" to be held in Istanbul on April 1, World Bulletin reported.

The Spokesperson of the French Foreign Ministry, Bernard Valero, on Friday confirmed that Juppe will be in attendance at the Istanbul meeting.

Valero stressed that "ending the violence", "sending humanitarian assistance that could reach Syrians" and "opening up the path for a political solution" were three priorities of the international community concerning Syria.

Earlier in the week, the U.S. Department of State announced that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would attend the Istanbul meeting on April 1.

The first meeting of "Friends of Syria" had taken place in Tunisia in February. Representatives from more than 60 Arab and Western countries were in attendance at the Tunis meeting. The first meeting was focused on allowing humanitarian assistance for civilians and people wounded in violence in Syria.

Former U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan has been appointed as a special envoy by the United Nations and the Arab League to represent them in finding a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis.
