Azerbaijan, Baku, July 27 / Trend, A.Taghiyeva /

Syrian MP Ikhlas Bedevi joined the opposition and fled to Turkey, Anadolu agency reported on Friday.

It is reported that he is the first representative of the Syrian government, who joined the opposition.

Earlier, Syrian ambassadors to Iraq, UAE and Cyprus also left the government and joined the opposition.

The conflict in Syria lasts since March 2011. According to the UN figures, 16,000 people became its victims. The Western countries and some Arab states seek Bashar al-Assad's resignation, believing that this will stop the violence.

Russia and China, however, fear that external intervention in Syria and the loss of statehood will lead to enhancing of the conflict. The Syrian authorities, in turn, claim that they face the resistance of well-armed militants, who are supported from the outside.
