Arab League emergency meeting postponed
The Arab League's emergency ministerial meeting on the Syrian crisis has been postponed, the Arab League's Deputy Secretary-General Ahmed Bin Helli said on Sunday. He did not elaborate, The Voice of Russia reported.
The session was scheduled for Sunday in the Saudi city of Jeddah, where the Foreign Ministers of Arab League countries planned to discuss the nomination of Algerian diplomat Lahdar Brahimi for the post of the new UN-Arab League envoy to Syria.
Brahimi is tipped to become Kofi Annan's successor in the wake of Annan's resignation as the UN-Arab League envoy on August 2.
