The Iraqi government on Tuesday suspended the central bank governor over fraud allegations, DPA reported.
Sinan al-Shabibi, who held the position since 2003, was suspended after investigations showed alleged irregularities in the exchange of Iraqi dinars for hard currency, local media said.
He has been replaced by Abdul Bassit Turki, the head of the Board of Supreme Audit.
