Egypt would make every effort to establish a truce in the Gaza Strip, Prime Minister Hesham Qandil told reporters in Gaza City, dpa reported.
"Egypt will not lag in making efforts to reach a truce and halt the aggression," Qandil said.
"The tragedy I watched today in Gaza cannot be ignored. The aggression must be stopped."
Qandil added that his visit to the enclave would be followed by more visits from Egyptian officials.
