Turkish journalist Metin Turan, a TRT correspondent detained in Egypt while covering the protests following the military coup, is set to be released today, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has announced via his Twitter account Hurriyetdailynews reported.

Turan was detained during protests in August at Cairo's el-Fath Mosque, and has pleaded for help from the Turkish authorities for a long time.

Davutoglu said Turan will be released pending on trial.

Over 10 journalists are currently detained in Egypt without being brought to trial. Their detention is renewed every 15 days, the legal limit for administrative detention in Egypt, according to Reporters Without Borders.
