A new secretary general of the Arab League will be elected today, a message of the organization said March 10.
It is expected that Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Egypt's ex-foreign minister, will be the new secretary general of the Arab League.
Aboul Gheit served as Egypt's foreign minister from 2004 to 2011.
Nabil Elaraby was a secretary general of the Arab League since 2011.
The Arab League, which was established March 22, 1945, includes 22 Arab states.
