Palestinian Islamic Hamas movement said Monday that it has agreed with Egyptian companies to send materials for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip which Hamas controls, Xinhua reported.
"We have agreed with these companies to provide Gaza Strip with all the materials and equipment needed for the reconstruction and the building of Gaza Strip," said Yousef al-Manssi, Hamas' minister of work.
"There is coordination with the Egyptian side and everyone is waiting the approval of the Egyptian intelligence to allow these materials in," he added.
Al-Manssi's statement comes a day after he announced that Hamas authorities will start removing rubble and debris, resulted from a major Israeli offensive against the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip in December and January.
The war killed more than 1,300 Palestinians and destroyed 14, 000 buildings partly or completely.
"We will not remain a mere bystander if the crossings remained closed and we study other options' including recycling some of the debris and trying to bring in caravans to use as temporary installations," al-Manssi added.
