Lebanese President Michel Suleiman said Tuesday that his country was not interested in war with Israel, but was ready to defend itself if attacked. Suleiman told reporters in Rio de Janeiro that Israel was sounding threats in his country's direction, including reports of Syria arming Hizbullah with Scud missiles - in order to divert attention from stalled peace talks, Al Bawaba reported.
Meanwhile, Druze leader Walid Jumblat voiced concern over the possibility of an Israeli attack on Lebanon and called for caution. "This is a most worrying issue is worrying, and I personally always take this issue seriously and give it thoughtful consideration," Jumblat said in an interview published Tuesday by the daily As-Safir. "I can never put this issue out my considerations that it is not possible for Israel to launch an attack or war" on Lebanon, Jumblat stressed.
