An Israeli military court on Sunday convicted two soldiers from an infantry brigade of endangering human life and displaying inappropriate behaviour during Israel's 2008-2009 Gaza offensive, DPA reported.
Israeli media said the court found that the soldiers overstepped their authority when, during fighting on January 15, 2009, they asked a Palestinian boy to open a bag suspected of containing a bomb - thereby putting him at risk of the explosives going off.
Military investigators launched a probe into the incident last July, after receiving a United Nations report on children in armed conflict.
The UN has accused both sides in the brutal 33-day war between Israel and Gaza militias of committing war crimes, and has demanded that they launch credible investigations.
