President Mahmoud Abbas' attempt to get the UN to recognise a Palestinian state is a "mistake" that goes against past Israeli-Palestinian deals, an Israeli government official said Tuesday DPA reported.
By approaching the world body, the Palestinians are "violating both the spirit and the word of signed agreements," Mark Regev, spokesman for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, told correspondents in Jerusalem.
He accused the Palestinians of using the UN gambit to "avoid negotiations."
"Ït's impossible to impose peace from the outside. It won't happen," he said.
