U.S. State Secretary Hillary Clinton met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem on Tuesday, along with Israeli Foreign Minister, Defense Minister, National Security Advisor and other officials, the U.S. State Department reported.
"They have discussed the efforts to de-escalate the situation and bring about a sustainable outcome that protects Israel's security and improves the lives of civilians in Gaza," the U.S. State Department said.
Within the meeting Israeli officials briefed Clinton on the situation in Gaza.
The Secretary offered condolences for the Israeli citizens killed and wounded in attacks today and over the past several days.
