( Itar-Tass ) - The Russian and U.S. defence and foreign ministers will hold consultations on the NMD in October, the Russian Space Troops' deputy chief of staff Alexander Yakushin said during a briefing on Saturday.
The NMD issue will be discussed in talks between Russia and the United States in the "two plus two" format with the participation of the defence and foreign ministers of the two countries, Yakushin said.
Earlier, in July and September, the Russian-U.S. working group held two rounds of consultations on the US missile defence plans.
At the first meeting in Washington, the delegations had a good preliminary exchange of views on the issues, a U.S. State Department spokesman said. It was an opportunity to exchange assessments of the threat of ballistic missile and mass destruction weapon proliferation for the United States, Europe and Russia, he added.
The second round of consultations took place in the Russian embassy in Paris.
Reports are expected to be prepared for the Russian and U.S. presidents after the planned meeting of the defence and foreign ministers.
