(CNN) Panama freed four Syrians and a Cuban after finding no evidence they tried to open the cockpit door of a Copa Airlines flight from Cuba, officials said Friday.

The five men were released late Thursday after being detained for two days.

"There was no proof that they committed any crime," prosecutor Luis Martinez said Friday.

Panama earlier had released two other Syrians, both teenagers.
