Over 10,000 Nashi members celebrate Putin’s birthday

( Itar-Tass ) -- Over 10,000 members of the Nashi youth movement celebrated President Vladimir Putin's birthday on the Taras Shevchenko embankment of Moscow on Sunday.

The action was held under the motto "Congratulate the President, Congratulate the Country."

The movement installed over 1,000 Russian flags on the highest buildings of Moscow, including State University and the Ukraine Hotel, and a giant greeting card for the president. Everyone wishing could sign the greeting card. They could also send greetings to the president online.

The main birthday present of Nashi is a giant 'blanket of peace'. "The blanket with the size of 220 to four meters is made up of ornaments of various peoples of Russia," organization spokesman Kristina Potupchik said. "Nashi want this blanket to be a symbol of the multinational and grand Russia."

The movement has ordered a prayer for Putin's health at all major churches of the city.
