( RIA Novosti ) - A court in the city of Vladimir, 125 miles to the east of Moscow, has rendered illegal a seven-year-old marriage between a grandmother and a grandson, the Prosecutor General's Office said on Thursday.

The 79-year-old woman married her 30-year-old grandson in 2000 in a registry office in Vladimir, violating the Russian law prohibiting marriage between close blood relatives.

Seven years later, the city prosecutor applied to the court asking it to annul the marriage.

The couple did not explain to the court the reasons for their strange relationship and how they managed to get married.
