Viktor Yushchenko leaves for Portugal
( ForUm ) - President Viktor Yushchenko has left on a one-day visit to Portugal to attend a summit of the European People's Party in Lisbon.
According to president's press office, Yushchenko is expected to hold face-to-face talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, PACE President Rene van der Linden and European Parliament President Hans-Gert Poettering.
The summit will also be attended by Jan-Peter Balkenende (the Netherlands), Kostas Karamanlis (Greece), Jean-Claude Junker (Luxembourg), Lawrence Gonzi (Malta), Janez Jansa (Slovenia), Aigars Kalvitis (Latvia), Traian Basescu (Romania), Austria's Deputy Federal Chancellor Wilhelm Molterer and Denmark's Foreign Minister Per Stig Moller.
Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili, Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, BYuT leader Yulia Tymoshenko and the leader of Belarus's opposition,Aleksander Milinkevich, will participate in it as guests.
