(AHN) -One person dead and 10 are missing in after a colliery blast in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality Thursday.
Eleven people were working underground when the blast happened at 5:10 p.m. in Yuejin Coalmine in Nanping County, Nanchuan District of Chongqing.
Initial investigations showed that the blast was caused by a gas explosion in a pit, Chongqing Coal Mine Safety Administration said.
Four safety inspectors, who were also in the area, managed to escape after the blast.
Chongqing Vice Mayor Xie Xiaojun led the rescue team who went to the scene.
