( Irna ) - Russian Federation Foreign Ministry Spokesman here Wednesday criticized US policy of justifying stationing its missile defense system in European countries on pretext of warding off Iran's threat.
Mikhail Kamynin made the comment at a press conference in reply to reporter's question, adding, "The US illogical insistence over indisputable nature of Iran's enmity against the West has become a serious problem for the world nations today."
Kamynin said, "We are against the plot for the establishment of a saint alliance against Iran."
The Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesman focusing on his country's standpoint over the US Administration's decision to set up continental missile sites at Czech and Poland republics, said, "We have proposed that the Americans can set up missile sites at Azerbaijan Republic's Qibla Radar Station and at Russia's Armawir region instead, if they are truthful in their claim."
He added, "Our proposal is an alternative for the proposed European positions, not a complementary one in addition to them." The Russian diplomat said, "Unfortunately the US officials are inclined towards ignoring the matter, pretending that our proposal can be studied as a complementary project."
The foreign ministry official also criticized Washington for accelerating talks with the Czech and Polish officials over the stationing of a radar station and ten intercepting missiles in those two republics.
In reply to another reporter's question, Kamynin said, "The important point in our proposal, that we would like everyone to realize, is that we would definitely not participate in the build up of an anti-missile capability that we consider a threat against Russia."
Referring to recent meetings between the US and Russian defense and foreign ministers in the framework of the 2+2 Conference in Moscow, he said, "The US side presented a proposal during that meeting that we asked for its written text for closer study."
Washington has been aiming at stationing a missile defense system comprised of a radar site and ten intercepting missiles at two European countries, the Czech republic and Poland, on baseless pretext of defending Europe against Iran threat.
Russia has from the very beginning considered the stationing of that missile site at the vicinity of its western borders a serious security threat to itself, threatening to destroy it if it is constructed immediately.
