( ForUm ) - The Council of Europe is ready to help Ukraine to reform the judicial system and to raise faith of the society in judges. Authorized representative of the Secretary General of the European Council in Ukraine Ake Peterson informed.

He has noted that the level of independence of representatives of Ukrainian Themis, as well as the level of society's faith in them, is extremely low because of bribery and political pressure on judges.

"The judicial system is lack of equity. Judges do not want to be changed that's why people do not believe them. It is very important for the country, but it can't be changed in a day," Peterson said.

He has noted the European Council is ready to help in professional development of Ukrainian judges in accordance with the European norms of legal procedure.

At the same time, chairman of the National commission on democracy strengthening and affirmation of supremacy of law Mykola Onishchuk has noted that the People's deputies will consider the row of draft bills on judges responsibility at the first session of the VRU of the sixth convocation and that in two years the situation in the judicial system must be changed.
