Fort Drum loses four more in Iraq

(Newsday) Four 10th Mountain Division soldiers were killed when their vehicle was attacked with an improvised explosive device near Tal Al-Dahab in Iraq, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.

The soldiers were from the 1st Brigade Combat Team, which arrived in Iraq in September to conduct stability and security operations, said Fort Drum spokesman Ben Abel. The unit also was deployed in Iraq from June 2005 to June 2006.

Killed were in the attack Monday were Staff Sgt. John Linde, 30; of New York City; Staff Sgt. Carletta Davis, 34, of Anchorage, Alaska.; Sgt. Derek Stenroos, 24, of North Pole, Alaska.; and Pfc. Adam Muller, 21, of Underhill, Vt.

With the four recent deaths, the 10th Mountain Division has now suffered 155 casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan.
