Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has promised $ US 10 million in financial aid to the Palestinian Authority in 2008. The commitment was made during the donor conference in Paris where more than 60 countries are represented.
Lavrov also stressed the Russian government's ongoing support for direct talks between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israel's Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
The US, France, Germany, and other countries also made aid pledges, and the conference host says total donations could reach $US 7 billion dollars.
The U.S. said it will provide $US 550 million. ( RT )
