Putin sets up makeup of Council for local self-government development

Russia's President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree On the Confirmation of the Makeups of the Russian President's Council for the Local Self-Government Development and the Council's Presidium, the Kremlin press service said on Monday.

In compliance with the November 2, 2007 presidential decree No. 1451 On the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Local Self-Government, Putin set up the makeups of the Council and the Council's presidium.

President Putin will chair the Council.

The federal part of the Council will include, in particular, Russian Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov, Kremlin Chief of Staff Sergei Sobyanin, Minister of Regional Development Dmitry Kozak, as well as members of the Federation Council, State Duma deputies and Public Chamber representatives. They will also be members of the Council presidium.

The regional part of the Council will embrace governors of Russia's regions, and the municipal part will unite heads of city administrations.

The decree becomes effective on the date of its signing.
