What's your ideal New Year getaway - skiing down a mountain, or chilling out on a beach? The Black Sea resorts in the South of Russia offer both. But with Sochi winning the bid to host the 2014 Winter Olympics, prices in the region have rocketed.

The extra cost hasn't stopped tourists from flocking to southern ski resorts. Most are expected to leave the region by 7 January - the Russian Christmas. In mid January hotels will announce their prices for next season.

And whatever they are, there are already a lot of people willing to book for next winter. ( RT )
