( dpa )- Firemen and members of the Mexican Red Cross had to use a door as an improvised stretcher on Friday to take a man weighing 370 kilogrammes to hospital for a medical appointment, Mexico City radio reported.

Julio Zamora Corona, 31, "apparently suffered a fall," leading his family to make an appointment for him at the Xoco hospital, a person involved in the operation told the radio station Formato 21.

Rescue teams had to remove doors from their hinges to get the patient out of his room and then of the house.

They decided to use a door as a stretcher given the patient's weight. Zamora Corona had to be carried to an ambulance by 12 people.

The man is not Mexico's most famous obese man. Manuel Uribe , 42, was as heavy as 560 kilogrammes in 2006 and did not leave his home for five years because he could not get out of the door. Uribe has since lost more than 200 kilogrammes . He now weighs around 325 kilogrammes , but he plans to lose more to weigh 120.
