( dpa ) - Israeli fighter jets bombed the Hamas-led Ministry of Interior in Gaza City Friday, killing at least one Palestinian and injuring several others, security officials and witnesses said.
Several women and children were among the wounded, with footage on Palestine television showing them being carried into hospital.
An Israeli military spokeswoman confirmed Israel carried out an airstrike on what she called a Hamas building in northern Gaza.
She said Israel also carried out another airstrike on a Hamas outpost in central Gaza, adding the strikes were in response to the firing of more than 130 rockets and mortars from the Strip in the past three days.
"The Israel Defence Forces will continue to act with all the means at its disposal (against the rocket fire) as long as there is no calm in Sderot and all the communities near Gaza," she told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.
