( dpa ) - Five US soldiers were killed Monday when their patrol vehicle was blown up in the northern Iraqi province of Ninive. the US army confirmed.
A spokeswoman said the patrol had also been fired upon. The US military has been increasing operations against al-Qaeda insurgents in the region, capital of which is Mosul.
