Rio Tinto helicopter with 10 aboard missing in Peru

(dpa) - A helicopter for mining giant Rio Tinto carrying 10 people disappeared off radar in central Peru during a storm Tuesday, reported El Comercio newspaper citing air force officials.

The Bell 412B flying for the British-Australian Rio Tinto mining enterprise went missing Tuesday morning after leaving the company's La Granja copper project, located 260 kilometres north of Lima in Cajamarca, with two pilots and eight passengers aboard.

The identities of the 10 have not been released.
