( dpa ) - Everton will have to do without influential midfielder Tim Cahill in their bid to secure fourth spot after the club confirmed that the Australian will miss the rest of the season with a broken metatarsal.
The 28-year-old had to come off after 10 minutes of Everton's match against West Ham last Saturday.
The club revealed on Friday that Cahill has aggravated an injury he originally sustained against last season.
"It is disappointing but it happens - I think we can cope," Everton manager David Moyes said.
Everton are two points behind city rivals Liverpool in the race for fourth spot - the two sides meet at Anfield on Sunday.
