(dpa) - Incumbent President Filip Vujanovic was officially confirmed winner of presidential elections held on Sunday, the Montenegrin election commission said Thursday.

Vujanovic, of the ruling Democratic Party of Socialists, won 51.9 per cent of the vote, it said.

Just over 68 per cent of around 490,000 people voted in the country's first presidential election since Montenegro left a loose union with Serbia two years ago.
