Opel Release Own Insignia Spy Photos
( WCF ) - TheCarFanatic.com has discovered what looks to be professionally shot press photos of an Opel Insignia test prototype. The only way photos like this can exist is if they were commissioned by Opel themselves. Now, this behavior is a bit strange because typically car manufacturers want to avoid new models being exposed prior to their official debuts for fear of adversely affecting sales of the outgoing model, in this case the Opel/Vauxhall Vectra, and therefore the purpose of camouflaged exteriors depicted in spy photos. However, since the Insignia is scheduled to debut in just a few months at the British Motor Show in July, perhaps it's negligible.
Compared to the most recent spy photos of the Insignia in matte black exterior without its hallucinogenic white stripes, these prototype photos don't reveal much other than an uncovered grille with Opel emblem. However, compared to previously released teaser photos of the new generation Advanced Forward Lighting (AFL) headlamps which show an LED parking lamp and round Bi-xenon projector lens, one of these prototype photos shows a slightly different lamp arrangement with a larger array of LEDs above the main beam and no projector beam.
Other details include a closeup of a tail lamp but this has been previously revealed as well.
