AC Milan eye Ronaldinho, Shevchenko at end of dismal season

( dpa ) - AC Milan confirmed Sunday that they have reached an agreement with Brazil star Ronaldinho to welcome him from Barcelona.

"Let's say that there is, in principle, an agreement with the player," Milan vice president Adriano Galliani said. "We have been authorized by Barcelona to negotiate with the player and now we will look for a financial agreement with Barca."

Galliani denied that he plans to fly to Spain next week, joking that "the next (Serie A) league season begins on August 31."

Rumours that Ukrainian striker Andriy Shevchenko could be back at Milan from Chelsea were also confirmed by Galliani. "This arrival is possible, too. We'll talk with Chelsea," he said.

After winning the Champions League and the Club World Cup in 2007, Milan are looking to beef up their lineup after a dismal Serie A season.

A 3-2 defeat at Juventus late Saturday, compromised their chances of clinching one of four available berths for next season's Champions League.

With five games left, Milan lie fifth, with a four point gap from fourth-place Fiorentina, who play a late Sunday game at leaders Inter Milan.

"I'm not giving up (the Champions League qualification) because Milan played a good game last night (Saturday). Let's see what Fiorentina do this evening at Inter," said Galliani.
