( dpa ) - A large Spanish cosmetic surgery firm is under a judicial investigation after allegedly cheating 130 women in breast augmentation operations, giving them cheap implants which caused health problems to some of them, the daily El Pais reported Wednesday.

The company Corporacion Dermoestetica denied the charges, admitting only that some women may have been given the wrong implants because of a computer error.

The company is under investigation in the eastern Valencia region for allegedly giving several women implants worth 600 euros (950 dollars) after they had paid for a different brand worth twice the amount.

The cheap implants caused some women's breasts to harden and to become deformed, according to El Pais.

The alleged fraud could affect 130 women in seven Spanish provinces, the daily said.

A surgeon working for the company discovered the alleged fraud when removing implants from one of the affected women.

Corporacion Dermoestetica, however, said that all the implants it used were of the same quality and without price differences.
