Lily Allen No Longer Book Prize Judge

( CM ) - LILY ALLEN has been dropped as a judge for the Orange Prize for Fiction competition.

Due to personal problems and the commitments involved with filming her new TV show the songstress did not have time to prepare for the role and withdrew by "mutual consent", reports the Times.

"Life got in the way. She lost a baby, her boyfriend left her and she was launching a new TV show," Kirsty Lan, chairman of the judging panel, told the news provider.

"She was under a hell of a lot of pressure. She found the pressure of judging a major book prize on top of everything else too much."

The announcement that the singer was to be one of the judges met with some initial outcry.

However, Ms Lang defended the decision calling Lily a "wordsmith" as she writes her own songs and adding that anyone who opposed it was being "snobby and elitist".

Meanwhile, GAVIN AND STACEY star JAMES CORDEN recently revealed that he and Lily are a couple.

Speaking to the Sunday People a week after they were photographed leaving a charity event together, the comedian admitted he is "smitten".
