More than 9 million tune in for CMT Music Awards

More than 9.1 million viewers tuned in for the premiere and repeat telecasts of this week's Country Music Television awards. ( AP )

The show hosted by "Hannah Montana" star Miley Cyrus and her father Billy Ray Cyrus scored a 1.27 rating among viewers 18-to-49 for the live broadcast. That's up 35 percent from last year, according to Nielsen Media Research figures provided by the network.

The fan-voted awards show premiered live Monday on CMT. Fans cast a record 5 million votes at CMT.com to determine the winners.

Performers included Carrie Underwood, Sugarland with Little Big Town and Jake Owen, Brad Paisley with special guest Hank Williams Jr., Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Alan Jackson, Taylor Swift, LeAnn Rimes, Keith Urban and Brooks & Dunn.
