( AP ) - Police say they have arrested six people in connection with the 1987 murder of a private detective who was found dead outside a London pub with an ax in his head.

Metropolitan Police say five men appeared in court Monday accused of involvement in the killing of 37-year-old Daniel Morgan.

The sixth man is a police officer. He is accused of misconduct and has been suspended from the force.

Police reopened the inquiry in 2006 because of pressure from Morgan's family and the Metropolitan Police Authority.

Morgan's family says he was about to expose police corruption when he was killed.
