US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will travel to the Middle East next week in an effort to nudge along the stalled Israeli-Palestinian peace process, the US State Department said Friday, dpa reported.
Rice will first stop in London during the May 1-5 trip for a meeting of Mideast peace mediators consisting of the European Union, Russia, United Nations and United States and known collectively as the Quartet.
While in London, she will also participate in a meeting the five permanent members of the Security Council - Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States - plus Germany about the UN effort to compel Iran to halt uranium enrichment.
