One NATO soldier was killed and four others were wounded in an explosion in southern Afghanistan close to Kabul, the military said Thursday.
The soldiers were on a military patrol Wednesday in Logar province, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said in a statement, reported dpa.
The injured soldiers were evacuated to a military hospital for treatment, said the statement, but did not disclose the nationalities of the soldiers.
Taliban insurgents, whose regime was toppled in a US-led military invasion in late 2001, have recently largely relied on the use of roadside and suicide attacks, both tactics are widely believed to have been copied from Iraqi insurgents.
